Quickie Update

So, I start posting about my portfolio a couple of weeks ago and I single handedly drive the worldwide stock markets into a tailspin. Just goes to show you what happens when you start to think you are too smart…

Anyway, I will continue to post my more speculative stock plays over the coming weeks. I think these are kind of fun story stocks. Each one has the potential to do really well and/or fall flat on its face. I typically think of this portion of my portfolio as a venture capital fund. I spread some money around to a bunch of different companies that I think have the potential to do very well and then hope that 25% of them actually wind up doing pretty well and that one or two turn out to be grand slams. I will state if I actually own the company I am writing about or if I just think the story is interesting and would invest if I had the cash.

As for the rest of life, things are going really well right now. Work has gotten very interesting with the sell off in the stock markets. There are a lot more exciting things to research and buy when the prices are down, I just wish it did not hurt my personal portfolio, but what are you going to do?

The wife and I have been going after each other in bed, which is a wonderful turn of events. I think over the long holiday weekend, we made love, basically twice a day. We have not done something like that since before we had kids! It has been fantastic! I hope this streak lasts (and that we don’t wind up with baby number four to show for it).

My wife has agreed that she has enough kids. If she keeps that sentiment for three months, then it will be time for me to see the urologist and set me up to fire blanks for the rest of my life.

It was always easy to say that I was done having kids when I knew my wife was going to say that she was not sure. But now that she seems to be sure, I have to make sure that my heart is right there too. I love kids and I love babies, but I just don’t think that I want to have another of my own. But it is a big step to do something permanent about it.

So that is it for today.

Cheers!
