Vegas Dates

First things first, let’s talk about Vegas. I had six emails regarding my discussion of Vegas. I actually had a business trip come up that will take me to Vegas the week of May 10 thru 13. If those dates happen to work for anyone, I would love to meet up for drinks and some craps (or maybe even blackjack). Drop me an email if you happen to be going to Vegas that week and wanted to set something up.

My youngest child has been ill. He spent a couple of days in the hospital last week with some sort of an unidentified infection that sent his white blood cell count through the roof. The docs gave him some high powered antibiotic and it eventually cleared it up, thankfully. Sorry to have fallen so far behind in all my reading and posting, but my real life does come first. Now all of my children have spent time in the hospital for some sort of disease that kills millions of third world children each year. We are so lucky to live in the US and I am so lucky to have a good health insurance plan. I always take such items for granted until there is a disruption to our lives. My littlest guy finally got the all clear today that his white cell counts were completely normal.

My wife still has not visited her Doc to talk about her lack of sex drive. We are now into March and our sex count for the year stands at one. I was getting a little more hopeful in January, but I am back to feeling like we are never to click sexually again. She just does not even seem concerned about it. One day in the far off future, when not even Viagra will help me get hard, I will weep over all this waste of my still youthful and vigorous erections.

I have identified my first half marathon to run. It is in June, so I still have plenty of time to work myself back into running those long distances. I have become a candy ass since the first of the year. I have more or less given up my lunch workouts so that I don’t have to work quite as late at night. I have also been doing the South Beach Diet. I had more or less settled my weight in around 195lbs (I am 6’0”) so I was not fat, but certainly weighed more than I wanted to and I felt like I was hefting around a lot of excess during my runs. So anyway, I started South Beach a couple of weeks ago and man have I been impressed. I basically eat all the stuff I like, veggies, diary, meat, nuts, salad, etc. and just cut out the junk (I know it sounds simple to do without a diet plan, but South Beach really helps you realize what is really junk that most of think is good for us). More or less, if you can picture what you are eating existing in nature, you can eat it. I have lost over ten pounds and feel great. Once I get back in the running habit, I hope to eventually work myself back to about 175.

Spring seems to be in the air here and I am ready for it. I am a gardener and I just cannot wait for the spring flowers to start to show. I have seen a few crocuses blooming around town, but I love tulips and am itching for some real color in the yard.

That is enough random rambling for one day. Until next time….a due.
